My Bread Story

While taking a break from corporate life, it gave me time to reflect on what I'd like to do in the future. I've always wanted to start some small business but my risk appetite is low, you can say "kiasi", and I do not have a product to sell.

One thing I love, is to wake up to the aroma and taste of freshly baked bread! I was blessed with a Thermomix machine for house warming, so decided to make good use of it. Searching the menu I came across the recipe for Hokkaido Milk Bread, and it went "downhill" from there. I shared the bread with my friends and family and they loved it. Now I have a product so why not sell it.

Fred Bread was born in September 2020, where I started baking from home, and selling to my friends and family. It was based on pre-order and their bread will be delivered the following week. The pilot-run was overwhelming and I decided to take a break to consolidate. With fantastic support "phase 2" happened in December 2020, and it was another successful production.

However, I returned to my corporate life as bread-making from home is hard work, and not very sustainable, but it has always remained on the back of my mind to start the bread business.

The opportunity came this year and I decided to take the plunge. With my goal to produce the best Hokkaido Milk bread you would ever sink your teeth into, I took the journey to look for the best ingredients, improve the bread-making process, and have the best equipment to produce it. You will still have the Fred Bread goodness, but better and healthier! I continue to make my bread with unbleached flour, but now with the best in the market, and this time, with imported Hokkaido fresh milk (not UHT) and Hokkaido butter!
